About PRiCAN
PRiCAN—”Primary Care Research into Cancer”—is a research group based in RCSI University of Medicine and Health Sciences, Dublin.
Founded in 2022 by Professor Patrick Redmond, PRiCAN is dedicated to realising the potential of primary care to transform cancer outcomes. We conduct innovative, patient-focused research in prevention, screening, and early diagnosis. As the first point of contact for most cancer patients, primary care has a unique opportunity to expedite diagnosis and improve outcomes. PRiCAN brings together GPs, health psychologists, data analysts, health economists, and AI scientists, working closely with patients, clinicians, national policymakers, and international partners to build research programmes with real-world impact. We are also training the next generation of primary care cancer researchers, driving progress across the entire cancer continuum.
